Tour Plan

Day 1. Arrival at Tbilisi Rustaveli International airport.

Meet with a company representative. Transfer to the hotel.

Day 2. Tbilisi tour

Tbilisi is a must see city. If you want to feel the city’s heartbeat, you should wander in narrow streets and enjoy the eclectic sights ranging from churches to synagogue, mosque, old houses with wooden carved balconies, old baths using the water rich in sulfur, Art-Nuevo and Moorish styles.
The city tour will include the Metekhi Plateau and the church, Sulfur baths, Narikala fortress, Sharden street, Sioni Cathedral, modern Bridge of Piece. Visit “Gardenia Shevardnadze” – a true oasis in Tbilisi, a fabulous garden, nursery and cafe.
Today you will have a delicious Georgian dinner with folk show.

Day 3. Tbilisi-Mtskheta-Gudauri-Kazbegi

Before departure to the Caucasus Mountains we will visit Georgia’s Holy Places, UNESCO Monuments, Jvari Monastery and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. Enjoy the beautiful old capital city, Mtskheta streets, where you can buy lots of souvenirs. Georgian wine etc.
The road continues to the Caucasus Mountains. Nature is slowly changing and after visiting Ananuri’s beautiful fortress you will find yourself in the beautiful surroundings of the mountains. Before arriving in Stepantsminda(Kazbegi), enjoy the magnificent views of the mountains, alpine flowers, mineral springs. Visit the beautiful Gveleti waterfall where you will meet many interesting flowers on the path leading to it.

Day 4. Kazbegi-hiking in Juta-Gudauri

Today is a flower day. You will travel to the village of Juta, which is located at 2200 meters above sea level. Today’s day promises a meeting with nature wonders, with beautiful alpine flowers such as Gentias of vivid blue color, bellflowers, buttercups, forget-me-nots, Caucasian Irises, alpine Asters, Rhododendrons, wild Orchids and if you are lucky Fritillarias as well.

Day 5. Gudauri-Uplistsikhe-Kutaisi

Today we have an exciting day. Visit to Uplistsikhe. Walk up the site and feel the atmosphere of the ancient city. Visit the living caves and ancient pharmacy, the rock-cut wine presses and wine cellar, pagan temple and antique theater. Visit also Xth c three-church Christian basilica of st. George. Go back through a secret tunnel.
Arrive Kutaisi, the second biggest city in Georgia and one of the ancient cities of the world. Kutaisi is mentioned as Aia(former name) in Greek and Georgian mythology.

Day 6. Kutaisi-Mestia

Today we go back to the 19th century.
The Prince of Samegrelo, Levan Dadiani, married the beautiful Ekaterine Chavchavadze who was originally from East Georgia. In Zugdidi Ekaterine’s beautiful palace was constructed by German architect Rice. You will visit the palace-museum where the furniture, pottery and artifacts belonged to Ekaterina and her family.
The road continues to Svaneti. En-route you will stop shortly at the Enguri Dam – hydroelectric dam on the Enguri River. Currently it is the world’s second highest concrete arch dam with a height of 271.5 metres.
The rest of the way goes up and up and the nature offers beautiful forested mountains and spectacular views. The road passes along the Enguri Gorge. On the road you will stop several times to enjoy views and take pictures.

Day 7. Mestia-Ushguli

Be happy! Today is a flower day! Departure to Ushguli – Europe’s highest village, where the 12th century towers are preserved along with Svan houses. The road to Ushguli is hard and bumpy. One part of the village is named Chazhashi and is on the list of UNESCO monuments.
You will leave the luggage in the host family and go toward the snow mount Shkhara(5201m). On the way you will find beautiful alpine flowers, flower carpets and fertile alpine meadows. From time-to-time you will have to cross the river barefooted and jump from stone to stone. Walking along the noisy and quick Enguri river you can see the highest snowy peak of Georgia – Shkhara(5 201m). Here you will feel that this is a real earth paradise.
Finally, you will reach the source of the river. This is an ice cave from where the river Enguri comes out gushing. Returning to the host’s home you will be pleasantly tired, full of impressions, and if you have the desire and time you can see how the host is making cheese. This is the daily activity of locals.

Day 8. Ushguli-Mestia

Today, visit the village. Explore towers, old houses, visit the Svan house, where you will see the works of the local woodwork master. Visit the little church of Lamaria, where you can see the frescos of the 12th century, take pictures and travel to Mestia.
If you have time left, you should visit Mestia Ethnographic Museum. This is a repository of unique manuscripts, icons, archaeological and ethnographical materials.

Day 9. Mestia-Kutaisi

Today we farewell to Svaneti and move to Imereti. Visit the Prometheus karst Cave. Enjoy the beautiful halls that are full of stalactites and stalagmites. Classic music and color lights will accompany you in the cave.
Drive to Kutaisi and stop for a while for the Kutaisi Central Square Fountain.

Day 10. Kutaisi-Tbilisi

11-12 Centuries – Georgia’s Renaissance. During his reign the mighty King David Aghmashenebeli made important constructions including the Gelati monastery complex. On the territory of the monastery he established the secular academy, famous Gelati Academy.The Virgin Mary Cathedral is distinguished by its amazing murals and mosaic. The great king David is buried in the monastery area. As for Gelati Academy, it was a great educational center where the famous professors taught students. There is also the wine cellar and storage on the site.
Today we will visit this complex and see each place.
With the impressions you will leave the monastery and go to Tbilisi.
